I am a therapist, artist, and writer, and for over 30 years I have built a career on contemplation and helping guide people to consider things with a new lens. My life has been a journey of personal growth and change through creative means and with a deep respect for the powers of our unconscious.
As a clinical mental health counselor, I look forward to bringing my experience and creative insight into a goal-directed and theory-informed practice. My work is based on psychodynamic theory, DBT, ACT, trauma, and play therapy. My goal is to help clients realize the world they want and assist them in achieving that. When we realize pain serves a purpose, we can heal trauma and unlock the brilliant contributions of each person. I enjoy working with individuals across the entire lifespan; I foster a safe and inclusive therapeutic space for all and am particularly interested in working with clients going through a variety of issues.
As a therapist with lived experience of ADHD, I have distinct lens in understanding how ADHD affects our relationships and how we experience the world as children and adults. I am a professional member of APSARD and do continuing education throughout the year on assessing, evaluating and treating ADHD. As well as learning about the systemic issues with the condition to better serve my clients.
Before working as a counselor in private practice, I worked with the doctors at Evergreen Pediatrics in Washington state, and previously at The DBT Clinic in Portland. Along with my therapy practice, I am a professional artist and writer. Prior to that, I worked in business and management consulting for 15 years, where I collaborated with a variety of companies including BearingPoint, The Surgeon General’s Office, and PlanetOut Partners. I have also been a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for children in the dependency system in Washington state. I continue to conduct art workshops with local and national organizations on creativity, healing, and the senses.

Insurance & Therapy
While in my practice I may create a medical diagnosis, I prefer to review patterns of relations and try to manage them with tools, skills and new perspectives. There are important factors to know when billing insurance. Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis that stays on your permanent health record in order to receive counseling. They typically dictate how many sessions you may receive and the type of therapy you are permitted to engage in. I believe this should be decided privately between you and your clinician/therapist (me), though understand the desire to use insurance to cover cost of services.
Insurance accepted as of 2/05/2025:
Aetna
Anthem EAP
Carelon Behavioral Health
Cigna
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts
Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon
Quest Behavioral Health
United Healthcare (Optum)
Please contact me directly regarding session fees when not utilizing insurance.
CANCELLATION FEE: $75 per session cancelled within 24 hours
(I hold spots in my caseload at reduced rates, please inquire as needed)
If you would like to use your insurance and I am not on the unique insurance board, you may utilize Out of Network coverage. This means that if a diagnosis is founded and directly being addressed in counseling, Mindmarrow Counseling, PLLC can provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions to your insurance company:
Do I have mental health benefits for individual, couple or family counseling?
How many sessions are covered?
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
Are sessions covered with a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)?
Good Faith Estimate
The No Surprises Act went into effect in January of 2022. It aims to increase price transparency among health care services and to reduce the likelihood that clients receive a “surprise” medical bill. This act requires providers to inform clients of an expected charge for a service before the service is provided. Due to this, I am required by law to inform you of your rights regarding Good Faith Estimates for the cost of receiving mental health services.
At any time, you have the right to ask me or any health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. In a Good Faith Estimate, you will receive an estimate of services (type of service/estimate of frequency) and estimated costs for those services for a 12 month period. Furthermore, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your scheduled medical service or item when scheduled three days in advance and at least 3 business days prior to your appointment when scheduled 10 days in advance. This estimate is not a contract, nor are you required to obtain the services that are listed. You are free to discontinue services at any point in time or request a referral for another provider.
Good Faith Estimate & Psychotherapy
Due to the unique nature of psychotherapy, it is impossible to predict the exact length of time for treatment. Each individual, couple and family come with distinctive circumstances that can elongate or shorten the process. For this reason, the fees charged at Mindmarrow Counseling are transparent and predictable. You will obtain a ‘Financial Statement and Considerations’ document which is to be signed before obtaining services and we will discuss fees and policies during our first session. With this information, you can clearly and confidently anticipate the cost associated with receiving counseling.
